The International Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation Announces Scholarship Awards for 2007-2008 Academic Year
Alexandria, VA: The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Foundation announced today the winners of four scholarships made possible by the IACP Foundation’s Survivors’ Education Law Enforcement Trust (SELECT). The SELECT program recognizes the contribution of law enforcement officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty by providing college scholarships to their surviving family members."The IACP Foundation is pleased to offer these scholarships to deserving students and grateful for the generosity of those who made them possible," said Chief Mary Ann Viverette, Chair of the IACP Foundation.
Scholarships for the upcoming 2007-2008 academic year were awarded to Dale Carrasquillo-Anderson from Dorchester, MA, who attends Bryant University in Smithfield, RI; Cathy Goldthwait from Syracuse, NY, who attends SUNY Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, NY; Cheryl Schultz from Española, NM, who attends the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM; and Allyson Rose from Sharon, MA, who attends Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA.
Dale Carrasquillo-Anderson received the Chief Dave Cameron Memorial Scholarship, which Dan Rosenblatt, executive director of the IACP, and his wife Lonie Hassel endowed in memory of Chief Dave Cameron. Cathy Goldthwait received the Chief Mary Ann Viverette Scholarship, generously donated by Chief Viverette’s Advisory Council on the occasion of her retirement. Cheryl Schultz received the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Scholarship, generously donated by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company Foundation. Allyson Rose received the Charles and Claire Blauer Scholarship. Charles Blauer is CEO of the Blauer Manufacturing Company, a generous supporter of the IACP Foundation.
Established in 1990, the mission of the IACP Foundation is to serve law enforcement by securing and providing financial resources to support leadership, education, training, and research programs, and to assist survivors of law enforcement officers killed and disabled in the line of duty.
