IACP Foundation Raises over $100K At Annual Conference in New Orleans

Alexandria, VA: The IACP Foundation raised a grand total of more than $100,000 thanks to fundraising efforts at the IACP's 114th Annual Conference in New Orleans in October.

"I am both thrilled and humbled at the IACP Foundation's immense success," said IACP Foundation Chair and IACP Immediate Past President Joseph C. Carter. "The IACP Foundation now has an even greater opportunity to achieve its critical goals and bring its programs and initiatives to a wider audience. I am incredibly proud that the members and friends of the IACP value our programs and supported them with such great passion and generosity."

The Foundation hosted its first major fundraising gala in New Orleans on Sunday, October 14th, featuring former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani as the keynote speaker. More than 300 guests attended. In addition to the dinner gala, the Foundation benefited from two silent auctions offering sports memorabilia that proved to be a big hit among both dinner guests and attendees at Host Chief's Night.

"The IACP membership and the corporate partners of the Foundation made these events a resounding success," Carter continued. "This is a signal that they hear the news of the Foundation's good work loud and clear. We look forward to their continued support and even greater success at the 115th Annual Conference in San Diego in 2008."

Contributions made to the IACP Foundation support professional policing by funding programs such as the Center for Police Leadership, scholarships for dependent family members of officers killed or disabled in the line of duty, IACP membership opportunities for underrepresented nations, and a variety of no cost training tools that benefit law enforcement agencies across the globe.

2007 corporate supporters included: Lockheed Martin, Motorola, Target, The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, OnStar by GM, Oracle, Alarm Industry Associations, Blauer Manufacturing, W.L.
