William J. Harvey
Board Member IACP
Bill Harvey is Vice President and General Manager – DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems and DuPont Personal Protection. In this role, he is responsible for DuPont’s $1+ Billion global Advanced Fiber and DuPont Personal Protection enterprise headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
Mr. Harvey initially joined DuPont in 1977 in the Polymers Department as a Product Specialist in Wilmington, Delaware. After a series of product management and product development assignments, he relocated to Chicago as a Marketing Representative in Packaging. In 1982, he returned to Delaware where he assumed a series of management positions in Supply Chain, and Fluoropolymer and Packaging Marketing. In 1988, he became the Manager of DuPont Technical Services Laboratories at Chestnut Run in Wilmington. Mr. Harvey became Business Manager for DuPont Elastomers - NEOPRENE, NORDEL® and HYPALON® in 1990.
Mr. Harvey left DuPont in 1992 to become General Manager of the Peroxygen Chemical Division of FMC Corporation located in Philadelphia. He rejoined DuPont in 1996 and was appointed Global Business Director for DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers. In 1999, Mr. Harvey assumed the role of Global Business Director - KEVLAR® in Richmond, Virginia. In February 2002, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the DuPont Advanced Fiber businesses - KEVLAR® and NOMEX®. He assumed the additional responsibility for DuPont Personal Protection, a new global business unit focused on safety and worker protection, in November 2002.
Mr. Harvey is currently a member of the Virginia Business Council, is a Trustee of University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate Business School and of St. Catherine’s School in Richmond. He is also on the Advisory Board of the School of Business at Virginia Union University.
Mr. Harvey is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. In addition, Mr. Harvey has completed several Executive Management Programs at the Harvard Business School.
He is married to the former Edith C. White of Greensboro, North Carolina. They reside in Richmond, Virginia with their son, Christopher, and daughter, Alyson.
