Adam Garcia
Chair of the University & College Section IACP and
Executive Board IACP

Adam Garcia has 24 years of Law Enforcement, Fire Service and Emergency Management training, education and experience, including current position as Director of Police Services for the University of Nevada, Reno; past employment as Director of Public Safety for the City of Center Line, Michigan; and patrol officer, sergeant and lieutenant with the Saginaw, Michigan police department; Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Master of Arts degree in Political Science; Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice; Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice; state certified Fire Fighter I & II; training in Incident Command and Emergency Operations Centers through FEMA; Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, the 224th session the FBI NA and recipient of numerous commendations and awards.

In September 2005 Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn appointed Adam to serve on the state Communications Steering Committee.

Adam is a recognized Subject Matter Expert on Weapons on Mass Destruction and Terrorism and has consulted on this subject and emergency operations planning for the United States Office of Domestic Preparedness, Michigan State University, Southwest Tennessee Community College, International Association of Chiefs of Police, and International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.

Adam is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno; Truckee Meadows Community College; and the University of Phoenix where he was appointed as the Chair of the Criminal Justice Department in 2004. Classes taught include Weapons of Mass Destruction for First Responders, American Government and Criminal Justice.

He is a member of the International Association of Chief’s of Police; International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; Nevada Chief’s & Sheriff’s Association; National Latino Peace Officer’s Association; Board of Directors of the United Way of Northern Nevada and Chair of the Washoe County Joint Operating Committee.

In September he was elected to serve a two year term as the Chair of the University & College Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was also appointed to serve on the Executive Board of the IACP.
